Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction
In 1987 I graduated from Gage High School, Gage, Oklahoma, and went to Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva where I received my Bachelors in Natural Science Education in 1992. In 2003, I returned to NWOSU and received my Master's in Educational Administration. I returned to Lamar University at Beaumont, Texas, in February 2013 to complete a doctorate in Educational Leadership in May 2015.
I am a member of the Texas Council of Women School Executives where I have am serving on the state board and as the Region 9 representative. I am also active in the Texas Association of School Administrators. I have been fortunate to be selected to provide sessions and trainings at the regional and state levels for AIE, TEKS Resource System, TCWSE, TASA, and Regions 16 and 9. In 2012 and in 2016 I was selected to attend the Center for Executive Leadership Superintendent’s Academy sponsored by Lamar University and to the District Coordinator for Campus Improvement Academy sponsored by the Texas Education Agency.
I taught science to grades sixth through twelfth at Higgins ISD for 13 years beginning in the fall of 1992. During my years at Higgins I was a teacher, Director of Technology, Lead Teacher and Assistant Principal. I became superintendent at Higgins ISD from 2005 until 2010. After 18 years in Higgins, I became the superintendent at Texhoma ISD in 2010 for four years.
I have four children, Annette, Chynelle, Emily, and Remington. Annette graduated in 2011. She is married and lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Chynelle graduated in 2015 from Canyon High School. She currently resides in Vernon. Emily is attending school at Vernon and has been active in athletics. Remington attends Claude ISD and is active in sports.
