Members of our Vernon Middle School bands walked away with 22 gold medals for earning Superior Ratings on their solos and ensembles at the UIL Region 7 Solo and Ensemble Competition held earlier this month.
Five of those gold medals came from soloists, while the remaining 17 were claimed by 17-member small ensemble. The soloists receiving a Superior Rating were: Madison Daniel, clarinet; Neveah Castillo, Trombone; Jonathan Fuentes, Trombone; MaKayla Sanches, trombone; Sophia Trejo, euphonium; and Oliva Hastings, percussion.
Members of the Superior Rated small ensemble were: Jacob Azua, A.J. Valles, Alexandria Balderas, Mehila Companioni Algonso, Kaedyn Copeland, Ja’Keydience Copeland, Sandra Madrigales, Anabell Reyes, Quetzalcoatl Reyes-Lopez, Braelyn Derwin, Drayven Edwards, Kayson Villegas, Landry Conley, Jase McLaughlin, Luke Parmer, and Evanny Quintero.
Soloists Tyler Bohannon on trumpet and Sandra Comacho on trombone received an Excellent Rating on their solos, while the ensemble of Leefe Brown, Stephen Say, Elias Trejo, Anabella Hernandez, and Carson Soucy also received an Excellent Rating.
