There will be 34 Lady Lions competing in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Region 1 Meet this Friday and Saturday. Vernon High School will have the most regional qualifiers of any high school in the State of Texas.
The meet starts Friday morning at Odessa High School, where lifters in the Unequipped Category will compete. The Unequipped Category consists of lifters in Class 6A thru Class 1A. Seven Lady Lions will be competing in the Unequipped Category. Those young ladies are: Serenity Edwards, 105-pound class; Leah Mena, 131-pound class; Jasmine Ler and Grace Lin, 165-pound class; Olivia Carr and Julyssa Felton, 242-pound class; and Kamryn Hall, 242-plus pound class.
The regular Equipped Category of the meet will begin Saturday afternoon at the Reagan County High School. In the Equipped Category, Vernon competes in Class 3A Large School Division.
Lady Lions competing in the Equipped Category are: Zayley Horn and Skylar Harbour, 97-pound class; Xiomara Fernandez, 105-pound class; Charleigh Cooper, Jaelle Guerrero and Brynlee Rozzell, 114-pound class; Lily Beam, Aaliyah Moralez, Brek Payne and Amari Garcia, 123-pound class; Nyneave Yarbrough, Maylana Moralez and Emma Pena, 132-pound class; Jeana Martinez, Isabella Garcia and Joselyn Cordoba, 148-pound class; Kyleigh Taylor, A’myah Allen, Reagan Baskerville and Cambree Lee, 181-pound class; Delila Rodriguez and Layla Smith, 198-pound class; Madyson Zamora, 220-pound class; Avery Conley, 242-pound class; and Nadia Gaines, Chloe Diekmann and Kendra Garcia, 242-plus pound class.
