Vernon ISD's in-person student registration/enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is scheduled for Monday, July 29. This year in-person registration/enrollment will be held at a different location than in previous years. Parents/guardians will need to go to the Vernon Elementary School between the hours of 7 a.m. to noon, and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on July 29 to register/enroll their child if they have not done so online. Students register if they were attending VISD schools on the last day of 2023-24. Students enroll if they finished last year at another school district.
Campers had a great time at the Lions & Lady Lions Basketball Camp that was held the last week of June at D.O. Fulton Gym. Coach Robinson and Coach Wynn thanked all campers for attending and their parents for bringing the youngsters to camp. The coaches also appreciate and wanted to thank Toby Kitchens and Texas Farm Bureau Insurance for sponsoring the camp.

Here is another opportunity for our VISD student/athletes who are incoming 7th, 9th, and 11th graders, or any student/athlete who suffered a major injury last year, to get a free sports physical. You must also be a member of the Vernon Boys & Girls Club to receive the free physical. Two-a-day workouts for Vernon High School football, volleyball and cross country athletes begin Monday, Aug. 5.

Before the start of summer band practice, new Roarin' Lion Band Director Jeremiah Hastings has scheduled a mandatory meeting for all 8th grade thru 12th grade band students and their parents. Mark your calendar for 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 23. The meeting will be held at the VHS Band Hall.
Yearbook senior photos for members of the VHS Class of 2025 have been rescheduled. Parents received a postcard stating the date was July 22, however Senior Photo Day will now be August 16. We apologize for having to reschedule the photos.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to senior Kell Castleberry, and sophomores Nevan Schur and Jonathan Medina for being named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 3A Super Elite Team!!! This is Nevan and Jonathan's first time to earn Super Elite honors, while it is Kell's third time to be named to the honor squad.
While the Boys and Girls Club will be closed tomorrow, all VISD summer school students will be provided with breakfast and lunch at VMS and McCord.

Vernon ISD has temporarily closed online registration and enrollment for the 2024-25 school year due to policy changes being imposed by the State of Texas. There will be a form added to the packet, and the "2025 Chromebook Acceptable Use & Protection Agreement" has changed. If you have already completed online registration or enrollment, you will need to go back and fill that form out again once online registration/enrollment is reopened. The VHS Drill Team squad leaders attended a home camp earlier this week that was conducted by the Universal Dance Association. The squad leaders learned dance skills and techniques, along with 4 dance routines. The squad leaders performed 3 of the routines for judges and received a Superior rating. Great job ladies!! Congratulations!!
