Here is our cafeteria menu for April.

Tuesday was School Assistant Principals Day and we apologize for being a day late in recognizing our AMAZING assistant principals. Sometimes the duties and responsibilities of being an assistant principal aren't the easiest to handle, but Vernon ISD has assistant principals who handle everything in a professional and calm manner, and who are always focused on what is best for their students. Thank you for all you do at your campus and throughout the district!

The Vernon Rotary Club recently held a local 4-Way Speech Contest, with the contest winner advancing to the Rotary Club Regional Speech Competition. Taking first place in the local speech contest was Aung Men, who received a $150 cash prize. Finishing second was Zachery Sanchez who received a $100 cash prize, and third went to Logan Wehrwein who received a $50 cash prize. The students gave a speech on What the Four-Way Test Means to Me. The four-way test involves these questions: Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
VHS teacher Dustin Swatzell helped the Vernon Rotary Club organize the event.

Good luck to our Lions and Lady Lions as they travel to Iowa Park tonight for District 7-3A baseball and softball games. Varsity softball begins at 5 p.m., with the JV to follow. On the baseball diamond, the JV leads things off at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow at 7 p.m. Go pluck the Hawks!!!

Last week, Vernon High School Gifted & Talented students, along with students in Coach Nathanael Stinson's honors Geography class traveled to Canyon for a tour of West Texas A&M University and a visit to the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. The students were given an in-depth look at life as a typical college student and learned of the opportunities available to WT students. They also enjoyed touring the largest museum in Texas and in discovering what early life on the Plains looked like.

Good Luck to our Lions and Lady Lions as they compete in the District 7-3A Track & Field Meet today and Wednesday.

We would like to wish all of our VISD students and their families, along with our teachers, our staff and our trustees a Happy Easter.

Coach Bah and several Lion athletes helped prepare over 500 eggs Thursday afternoon for the annual Easter Egg Hunt that will be held Easter Sunday at 3 p.m. at Christine Lyday Park. The egg hunt is in memory of Janie Embers. It is wonderful when our students volunteer for community projects!

It was a fun time for teachers and staff Thursday afternoon as the final bell of the day marked the beginning of an Easter egg hunt just for them. Some of the eggs were special prize eggs. One of the prizes was a "Lunch Out on VHS" and claiming that prize was Stephen Able.

There have been game time changes for both the Lions and Lady Lions for their games tomorrow against City View. Varsity softball will now start at 11 a.m., with JV to follow at 1 p.m. Junior varsity baseball will start at 1 p.m., with varsity to follow at 3:30 p.m. Both the Lions and Lady Lions are at home.
