The Lions athletic department has special honors athletes can earn each six weeks. To earn one of those special honors the athlete is judged on several variables including grades (making A Honor Roll or A/B Honor Roll), discipline, attitude, increasing maximum weight on different lifts, and others. For this six weeks, the coaching staff began presenting t-shirts to athletes who receive the honors. Earning Lions Club distinction this six weeks were Bowie Eakin and Adarius Williams. Earning OKG (Our Kind of Guy) honors were Carson Schoppa, Keigan Ballard, Christian Gallegos and Brayden Booth. Great job gentlemen!!! Congratulations!!

A big THANK YOU to local business Paint Your Peace and owner Taylor Edmonds for being one of our CTE Industry Partners. During our recent CTE Fair for 7th, 8th and 9th graders, Taylor talked with those students who are interested in Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts.

Unfortunately, Tuesday night's bi-district playoff game didn't end like we wanted it to, as our Lions fell to the Peaster Greyhounds, 64-51. Vernon wraps up the season with a record of 19-11. The Lions gave it their all and never gave up, but couldn't pull out the victory to keep their season alive. A big thank you to our seniors -- Kell Castleberry, Julius Dawkins and Jevon Fanner -- for their leadership, hustle, attitude and work ethic they displayed while wearing the maroon and white and representing the Lions!

Vernon ISD held a CTE Fair Tuesday morning that was attended by all VISD 7th, 8th and 9th graders. The fair was the first step as VISD begins to add more to its College and Technical Education program. The students took a survey earlier this semester which identified their top three career pathway interests. At the CTE Fair, students were able to visit with our industry partners in those pathways and also heard from local residents whose careers are in those pathways. A big THANK YOU to our industry partners.
