Last Saturday, the Roarin' Lion Band participated in the Burkburnett Revue Marching Festival and Clinic. The band performed its marching contest routine in front of three judges, who provided great comments, and also received additional feedback from a clinician after their performance. These type of events will help the band as it prepares for the upcoming UIL marching competition.

Since the school year began, our beginning Culinary Arts students have been busy in the kitchen learning to measure, read and understand recipes, and to follow proper kitchen safety and sanitation standards. The students put their new skills to the test by making chocolate chip cookies.

Congratulations to Carrie Diekmann and Libbi Garnett for being named our VHS Staff & Teacher of the Month for September. Mrs. Diekmann is our receptionist, while Ms. Garnett teachers Pathway to Education in our CTE Department and is also the sponsor for our Peer Assistance and Leadership (PALS) group. This is the first year for both of them to be a member of our VHS family and we're so, so glad they are here!!

Please note the new strategy going into place for our Juniors and Seniors at Vernon High School. Attendance for these two classes has been well below expectations this year. We are going to see if this will help us remedy some of the unexcused absences and skipping that is occurring. This goes into effect tomorrow, October 1st.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow is October 1st, but that's definitely the case. Here's our Cafeteria Menu for the month.
