Our VES students had a blast performing the Cuban Shuffle dance routine during halftime of Friday night's Vernon Lions football game. Check out some of these moves and faces. Great job to all who participated and worked to put this together.










Halloween is just around the corner. This is a great way for our students to participate in a community event.

Representatives from the Army, Navy and Marines also attended the event.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week and the theme this year is "Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug-Free." Vernon Elementary has something planned for every day next week as they take part in the national drug awareness campaign.


Today in Ms. Kia Dixon's Algebra class students did a black light scavenger hunt as a way to study direct variation.

McCord Elementary announced Students of the Week this morning. Receiving the weekly honor were: Pre-Kindergarten -- T.T, Maevery Echols, Rozalie Leija, Angelina Blut and Jumi Soe; Kindergarten -- Iris Kymer, Scarlett Tate, Kingsley Espinoza, Jimena Montes-Perez, Isabella Echols, Brynleigh Cabrera and Autumn Emmons; 1st Grade -- Gavyn Martinez, Aurora Grimaldo, Angela Simaj, Dominik Johnson, Zaylee Vasquez, Ruth Lehman, Eileen Baires Rivera and Xaven Hardeman. Congratulations!! Great Job!! Their photo will be displayed next week on our digital sign and the digital sign at the Administrative Center.

Pack the stands tonight and make some noise cheering on the Lions against Iowa Park in a HUGE District 3-3A battle!! And, along with our Roarin' Lion Band performing at halftime, our VES students will be performing a dance routine as well.


Our Lady Lions travel to Bowie on Saturday for their final District 7-3A road match. JV action starts at 11 a.m., with the varsity set to get underway at Noon.


Tomorrow is Football Friday which means PTO members will be at McCord, Vernon Elementary and Middle School ready to do some face painting during lunch periods! Students pay $1 to have their face painted. This is a fundraiser for the PTO, with all money going right back to benefit the students.

A new elementary school brings a new tradition, as tomorrow night will be Elementary Night at the Vernon Lions' football game. Elementary School students will get in free to the game and perform a dance routine at halftime. Students participating in the dance routine should wear a maroon or white t-shirt, or a cheerleader uniform. Head out to Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium tomorrow night and show your support to the Lions football team and our elementary students.


Today the 4th and 5th grade Gifted and Talented students traveled to the River Bend Nature Center in Wichita Falls to participate in a STEM Ecology Camp.




More photos of the displays from the Spanish 1 students who were celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month today by displaying their projects. The student groups put a trifold together with the information they had collected on their Hispanic person and the Spanish speaking country they had selected to research. After viewing the displays today, other VHS students were able to vote on their favorite trifold display. The students are in Ms. Patricia Barrera's Spanish 1 classes.
