VES parents, mark your calendars!! A week from tonight it's STAAR Night!!

The VHS Roarin' Lion Band Winter Guard will be performing a Community Showcase at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 2, in D.O. Fulton Gym. Come on out and show your support for this wonderful group!

Our Vernon ISD Community Resource Fair was held Saturday and it was a success, with residents stopping by to gather information on various services that are available to them. A BIG thank you to all the non-profit organizations and groups that set up a booth at the fair. Our vendors were the reason the fair was a success. While their parents were picking up information at our vendor booths, there was an art table and water balloons that kept the kids entertained.

During last night's Vernon ISD board meeting, trustees approved the school calendar for the 2026-2027 school year. Monday afternoon Michael White and Jarrod David with Texas Farm Bureau read a book to all of our First Grade students. This is Texas Farm Bureau Ag Literacy Week and the book that was read, which was about a little girl growing blueberries, was donated to us by Texas Farm Bureau. Students in AP World History began studying The Renaissance period last week and began gaining appreciation for the many works of art were completed during that time. One of the activities had the students attempting to paint Michelangelo's scene of evolution on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Students were shown a picture of the scene and then attempted to draw it -- while laying on their backs with their canvas taped to the bottom of their desk. This gave them just a small sample of how Michelangelo felt when he created his masterpiece at the age of 70, while lying on his back
