We'll be sending off our state-tourney bound VHS tennis team in style tomorrow morning!! The sendoff will begin at 8:15 a.m., in front of Vernon High School. At approximately 8:30 a.m., the team will leave the high school, with the Vernon Police Department and Fire Department, and the Wilbarger County Sheriff's Office escorting them down Wilbarger. The Lions are headed to the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Team Tennis State Tournament in Waco. Show your support tomorrow!! Line Wilbarger, honk your horns and cheer them on as they leave town.

Our AP World History students have been studying Southeast Asia and Tuesday they took a trip to our VHS cafeteria to learn how to eat with chopsticks. A big "Thank You" to our VHS cafeteria staff for making the rice for the students to test their chopstick skills. They also had a little fun with the chopsticks.

This morning, Hadley Henry, OTAS, and Paig Moya, OTAS, visited Ms. Bennett’s English IV class to share insights about careers in Occupational Therapy and to highlight the OTA Program offered through SWOSU and Caddo Kiowa Technology Center. Students learned about the role of occupational therapy, educational pathways, and opportunities available in this growing healthcare field.



This is Dr. Seuss Week at McCord Elementary as they celebrate the birthday of the author of many wonderful children's books. Tuesday was "Green Eggs and Ham Day" and some of our teachers shared photos of their students wearing green. In Mrs. Weddle's kindergarten class the students ate 'green eggs' which in reality was pudding tinted green with a vanilla wafer in the middle serving as the yolk of the egg. The daily celebrations for the rest of the week include: "Wacky Wednesday Day" when students can wear clothes backwards, inside out, or mismatched; Thursday is "Oh, The Places We Will Go! Day" with students dressing their best because it is also Picture Day; and Friday is "The Sleepy Book Day" when students can wear their favorite pajamas.







This week is School Social Work Week. Our VISD Social Worker Nicole Cameron is always there for our students and their families providing help and information on services available in our area. Nicole, thank you for all you do for our students, their families and Vernon ISD.

Receiving our VHS Teacher and Staff Member of the Month for February are Mrs. Elly Gonzalez and Mr. Jayton Reeves. They continue to go above and beyond for students in their classrooms and for their co-workers. We're lucky to have them both at VHS! Congratulations!!

Congratulations to our VHS Students of the Month for February Zach Sanchez and Grace Lin. Both Zach and Grace are involved in several extra-curricular organizations, work hard in the classroom and are always willing to help a classmate or a teacher when asked.

Our One-Act Play will be heading to District 7-3A contest tomorrow, but tonight they will put on a performance of their play "Of Mice and Men" for the general public. The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m., at the Wilbarger Auditorium. Admission is free, however

Our Lady Lions open District 7-3A softball action today as they travel to Bowie to face the Lady Jackrabbits. Instead of just one game, the teams will be playing a doubleheader, with game one beginning at 5 p.m., and game two to follow at approximately 7 p.m. Good luck Lady Lions!!

Members of our Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter competed in the Region 1 Leadership Conference last weekend and three will be moving on to the FCCLA State Leadership Conference!! Tyra Sparkman earned a silver medal in Culinary Arts FCSA, while the duo of Katelyn McLaughlin and Ysabella Ampig took bronze in Service Project Display. FCCLA is a new organization for us this year, and this was the first time for the members to compete. Congratulations to those who are advancing to the State Leadership Conference, and good job to all who stepped out and competed.

During this Spring semester our VES students have been working on two artwork projects for Tyson Foods and the Wilbarger Humane Society.
