Tuesday morning it was the VMS 7th graders' turn to participate in Game Day activities. Before moving into the gym, the students took part in a water balloon toss and an egg in a spoon relay race.











Remember the Wilbarger General Hospital Medical Group is offering FREE sports physicals TODAY!!! Students who will be 7th, 9th and 11th graders must have a sports physical before they will be allowed to participate in any sports program next year. Those students, regardless of grade, who had COVID or suffered an injury this year that required surgery, must also take a physical.


More scenes from Tuesday's mock wreck that served as a mass casualty drill for local law enforcement, fire department and hospital personnel, and also as an example to senior and junior students on the dangers of drinking and driving. There was one 'casualty' in the wreck, as well as two victims with life-threatening injuries, one with non-life threatening injuries, and one who was uninjured.








Tuesday morning all local law enforcement agencies as well as the Vernon Fire Department, Wilbarger General Hospital and Air Evac took part in a mass casualty drill that also doubled as an example of the dangers of drinking and driving to senior and junior students. The wreck was staged in the south parking lot at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium.










The Vernon Middle School held Game Days this week as the students wind down the 2022-23 school year. Monday was Game Day for the 6th graders, who participated in a variety of fun games.

Forty-five Vernon High School seniors were recognized during the Vernon High School Class of 2023 Scholarship Banquet, which was held Monday night in the VHS Cafeteria. Those 45 seniors received at total of 132 scholarships.

First grade students at T.G. McCord wrapped up science week today with a fun experiment involving a watermelon and rubber bands. The experiment helps students learn about force, density and energy. These scenes show the start the experiment. Stay tuned for the video.

Today was Shive Elementary's track day at Lion Stadium. The track meet for fifth grade was held this morning. The students had fun with the running events, as well as the three-legged race, medicine ball throw, long jump, football throw and the hoop race.










Brooks Kimmey and his parents, Kathy and Charlie Kimmey grilled hamburgers Friday morning for the staffs at our elementary schools -- T.G. McCord, Central and Shive. The PTO groups at the respective schools provided the sides. A BIG thanks to the Kimmeys for supporting our schools!
