Two Lions and four Lady Lions earned the right to advance to the Class 5A Region 1 Wrestling Tournament next weekend after finishing in the Top 4 of their weight class at the District 4-5A Tournament held here Thursday and Friday. Jaden Martinez finished 2nd and Shyne Rodriguez finished 4th in their weight classes to advance on the boys' side. Qualifying for the Lady Lions were Juanita Salazar, Jairy Vazquez, Emily Rodriguez and Kellen Byars, who all finished third in their weight division.
In a 13-team district comprised mostly of Class 4A and 5A schools, the Lions finished 8th in the Boys Division and the Lady Lions took 7th in the Girls Division.
Also medaling for the Lions were Bowie Eakin and Eh Kpaw, who are regional alternates, and Christian Perez and Christian Martinez.
The Class 5A Region 1 Tournament will be held in Canyon.

Some of our students and teachers/staff looked a little different when they came to school today compared to how they looked when they left Thursday. To celebrate the 100th day of school, some of them came dressed as senior citizens. They all did a great job.
