This morning VISD Supt. Dr. Kermit Ward was at VHS to announce to staff and students that VHS received an accountability score of 87, or a "B", for the 2024-25 school year. At lunch later today students received popsicles to celebrate and teachers were treated to a cookie cake. Great job Vernon High School!!!

⛳️🐾 The 3rd Annual LIONS ROAR Golf Scramble is this Saturday!
A huge THANK YOU to our sponsors — your support makes a big difference. When a community works with and supports its schools, both grow stronger together. 🦁❤️
And a big shout-out to all who signed up — our scramble is officially FULL! We’re excited for a great day of golf, fellowship, and cooler temperatures (especially after last year when Vernon made the record books as the hottest spot in the USA 🔥☀️). See ya Saturday morning for donuts, coffee and juice before we tee off at 8:30 a.m.
Go LIONS! 🦁

Vernon Community,
Vernon ISD put the finishing touches on what I would call a great convocation last week, and I led off that ceremony with the statement “there is no greater time in my career than now to be a teacher.” The world is still lacking in the respect that needs to be demonstrated to teachers and the job that they do; however, it is comforting and a step in the right direction when the Legislature determines it is time for the teachers to be awarded a raise.....

The Lions will play their second, and final, scrimmage at home tomorrow evening against Holliday. The JV scrimmage will begin at 5 p.m., at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium, and the varsity scrimmage will follow at approximately 6:30 p.m. There is no admission. The Lions kick off the 2025 season at home as well, as they will host Burkburnett on Friday, Aug. 29.

Brett White's Government class is currently studying the U.S. Constitution and the 27 amendments. On Tuesday, students were taken on a field trip to learn the art of "mending" fences, which in turn helped them understand the importance of the need to "amend" the Constitution. While on the field trip, the students discussed that in the 238 years of the U.S. Constitution, it has only needed "mending" 27 times. The students thought that was pretty good "fencing" for our country!

Vernon ISD is kicking off year two of our Dudes on Duty volunteer program — and we need your help to spread the word!
We’re looking for dads, husbands, grandfathers, uncles, church friends, and other positive male role models to spend time with our students during morning drop-off and lunch/recess. Just showing up, engaging with students, and offering a friendly presence can make a huge difference in creating a safe and welcoming environment.
All campuses are participating — and whether or not they have kids in our district, all men are welcome — however, they must be an APPROVED VOLUNTEER!
