Don't forget!! Tomorrow is the 2nd Annual VES Soup Night!! VES will be serving a variety of soups and cornbread prepared by our teachers and staff members from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the VES Cafeteria. This is a free event for all of our students and their families!! Students in our Gifted and Talented Program will also be displaying some of the science projects they have been working on.

At the Lions' last home game, a fundraiser was held for Christian Gallegos and his family. A three-year varsity starter in the offensive line, Christian suffered a season-ending broken leg in the Lions' season-opener on Aug. 28. A few weeks earlier, Christian's Dad had been diagnosed with cancer, and his Dad passed away in September. Lion assistant coaches Edwin Bah and Nathan Stinson spearheaded the fundraiser and last Friday they joined Lions Head Coach Kevin Sherrill in presenting Christian a check for over $2,900 to help his family. The coaches and Christian thanked all those who attended the Vernon-Boyd game and made a donation to help the Gallegos family.

11 Vernon Lions earned District 6-4A Academic All-District honors in team tennis. Our Lions will play their final home game of the 2025 season this Friday when they host Iowa Park in a District 4-3A, D1 contest. It is also Senior Recognition Night, with senior members of the football and cross country teams, along with senior trainers and cheerleaders and senior members of the drill team and band being honored along with their parents. The ceremony will begin at 6:20 p.m. Kickoff for the game is set for 7 p.m. At halftime, there will also be a special performance by our Vernon Elementary School Students. General admission tickets must be purchased on www.vernonisd.org
Single game, reserve seat tickets are $7 each and will be sold at the Vernon ISD Administration Building until Noon, Friday.

Fourteen Vernon Lion tennis players earned all-district honors during their Fall Team Tennis season. Those receiving honors included: Boys Co-MVP -- Jonathan Medina & Nevan Schur; Boys Newcomer -- Rodrigo Olivas; 1st Team Boys Singles -- Jonathan Medina, Nevan Schur, Will Castleberry, Hunter Boatman, Truett Schur & Rodrigo Olivas; 1st Team Girls Singles -- Arianna Castellanos, Kate Coffee, Madison McLennan; 1st Team Boys Doubles -- Jonathan Medina & Nevan Schur, Will Castleberry & Hunter Boatman, Rodrigo Olivas & Sriram Kadilaya; 1st Team Girls Doubles -- Sarah Black & Mariana Ortega, Amy McLennan & Presley Lehman; and 2nd Team Girls Singles -- Lily Beam & Sarah Black. The tennis team reached the Regional Quarterfinal Round of the Class 4A Team Tennis State Playoffs before seeing their season come to an end. Congratulations!!!
