Winners of the VMS Teacher Turkey Tournament were: Most Creative -- Mr. Spencer, Ms. Boswell and Ms. Flores; and Most Feathers -- Coach Brown, Coach Patterson and Ms. Williams.

Our teachers participated in a fun Turkey Tournament prior to the Thanksgiving Break. The teachers were split into teams and they had to make a turkey using feathers they found hidden around the campus. Teachers could also earn feathers in a couple of different ways, including writing a "thankful" note to someone or about something at VMS. There were some great entries.

The competition was fierce in the race to be the class with the most feathers on their turkey in our Turkey Bowl fundraiser. The winning classes were: 2nd Grade -- Ms. Fieldhouse; 3rd Grade -- Ms. Sandoval; 4th Grade -- Ms. T.White; and 5th Grade -- Ms. Jansa. Students in each winning class competed to win a frozen turkey. Those winners were Kinslyn Durwin for second grade and Karyss Finnegan for third grade. The fourth grade winner of the frozen turkey was Corbin Hendrix, with Alexia Romero the fifth grade winner. The VES Student Council raised almost $2,000 which will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for Star Tree children.

She discussed how funds from the campaign are used and how the program operates with the help of volunteers who give their time to be the bell ringers during the campaign. Members of the advisory council decided to volunteer to take a turn at being bell ringers, and to take the information back to high school and encourage classmates to also volunteer.
