Our VISD Community Resource Fair will be held Saturday, March 21, in the VHS Cafeteria. Stop by and learn about the various agencies and organizations that provided services to our community. There will also be fun activities for the family including water balloons and outdoor games. Kona Ice will be on hand selling snowcones. More than 10 door prizes will be given away include two grand prizes -- a set of JBL headphones and an Amazon Echo Show 8. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m.

All Vernon ISD campuses will be operating on their Early Release Friday Schedule tomorrow, as we get an early start on our Spring Break. All district campuses and offices will be closed March 9-March 13. We will return to the classrooms and offices on Monday, March 16. We hope all of our students and their families, along with all of VISD staff and their families have a safe and great Spring Break!

Making sure your mental health is as good as your physical health is vitally important, and Vernon ISD is partnering with the Region 9 Mental Health Initiative to provide free mental health counseling services for students and staff on our campuses. This week is School Social Work Week. Our VISD Social Worker Nicole Cameron is always there for our students and their families providing help and information on services available in our area. Nicole, thank you for all you do for our students, their families and Vernon ISD.

Today is our first day of school for March and here is the school cafeteria menu for the month. Please remember all of our VISD students can receive a free breakfast and lunch everyday at their campus cafeteria.

During this Spring semester our VES students have been working on two artwork projects for Tyson Foods and the Wilbarger Humane Society. On Wednesday, students from Mrs. Woods' class, along with art teachers Mrs. Parmer and Mr. Burr, delivered the artwork. Tomorrow is an Early Release Friday for all Vernon ISD campuses. We hope our students and their families enjoy the little extra weekend time.

Vernon ISD students get an early jump on a 3-day weekend tomorrow, as the district will be operating on its Early Release schedule on Friday. AND, students will not go to school Monday as it is a teacher workday, as we wrap up the 4th six weeks and prepare to head into the 5th six weeks. We hope our students enjoy their Monday and look forward to returning to the classroom on Tuesday! The Boys & Girls Club will also be closed Monday. They will open early tomorrow.

Emergent Bilingual teacher Manuel Perez put a video together featuring our VES EB students and an activity students did at the beginning of the year. During the "All About Me" activity, students shared what being bilingual means to them personally. On the video the students talk about their goals, the struggles they face, and ways teacher can support their growth in the classroom. Mr. Perez said the video captures the students' voices, honesty, and courage as they express their journeys in their own words. He added we often don't truly know what our EB students are feeling, thinking, or experiencing until we take the time to hear it directly from them. On Tuesday, the VES PTO treated our teachers and staff to loaded drinks! ☕🥤 We are so thankful for the incredible parents and PTO members who go above and beyond to show appreciation for our staff. Your support and kindness make such a difference, and we are truly grateful!

Last night, Vernon ISD trustees named Dr. Blaise Boswell as the lone finalist for the VISD Superintendent position. Dr. Boswell has been serving as the interim superintendent for the last three months, and will officially become the VISD Supt. after the state mandated 21-day waiting period.
