Deadline to register is Monday, Aug. 4. Team draft will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Players will meet their coach at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 14, and there will also be a soccer clinic at that time.

The Vernon Lions/Lady Lions Basketball Camp wrapped up its three-day run today. The camp began Tuesday, with the session for the older campers being held in the afternoon these last three days. They worked on shooting, ball handling and other fundamentals, and had fun with a variety of competitions.

The Boys & Girls Club of Vernon's 6th Annual Back to School Bash is right around the corner! The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, at the Boys & Girls Club. The event will including handing out free school supplies, back-to-school clothing, and other back-to-school services including health screenings, haircuts and more. Food vendors will also be on hand, and there will also be fun games, music and entertainment. Make plans to attend on Aug. 5!!

We suspended online registration and enrollment for the 2025-26 school year earlier this week and, unfortunately, it is still suspended at this time. When we resume online registration and enrollment for the upcoming school year we will make an announcement. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.

As of today we are exactly 7 weeks away from the first day of school!! We know some families like to get a head start on planning for the school year, so below is our VES school supply lists broken down by grade. We're exciting to see all of our returning and all of our new students on Aug. 13.

After wet field conditions forced the Vernon Lions Baseball Camp to push the dates of the camp to late last week, the baseball camp and Vernon Lady Lions Softball Camp combined for one big camp. Youngsters learned and practiced the fundamentals common to both sports, and then broke into smaller groups and worked on sports specific skills. The camp wrapped up Saturday morning.

Well then, be sure and sign them up for the Sparkle & Shine Cheer Camp scheduled for July 9-11!! The camp is open to incoming kindergarten thru 6th grade students. There will be 2 sessions during the camp. The Champs Volleyball Camp held at D.O. Fulton Gym wrapped up its 3-day run yesterday. Campers ranging from pre-kindergarteners to 8th graders worked to learn the game and improve their volleyball skills all while having fun.

Vernon ISD is holding a public meeting on the district's 2025-26 proposed state and federal budgets on Monday, June 23, in the boardroom at the Vernon ISD Administrative Building. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m., and is open to the public.

ATTENTION!! Due to the Lions Baseball Camp moving to June 19-21, the same dates as the Lady Lion Softball Camp, the two camps are going to be combined. They will break out into sport-specific drills during the camp. The starting time for both camps will be 10 a.m.

Parents of VISD students in grades 3-8 will be able to access their student's STAAR scores tomorrow. The easiest way to access the score portal is through Skyward. End-of-Course scores for Vernon High School students were released last week and can be accessed the same way.
